Louise de La Vallière (Marco Calvi)

Françoise Louise de La Vallière, Duchess of La Vallière and Vaujours, was a French noblewoman and the first mistress of Louis XIV of France from 1661 to 1667.

There were many who wanted her distant from the king. First of all Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of the treasury, who offered her a large sum to leave Louis. Disdained, Louise informed Louis, who thus had the pretext to have his rich and inconvenient minister arrested by the Musketeer d'Artagnan.Another of her opponents was Olimpia Mancini, niece of Cardinal Mazarin. Finally there was Madame de Montespan who would take her place as the Sun King's official mistress. Fouquet,Olimpia Mancini and Athénaïs" de Montespan are the three big head behind her). She withdrew from court after being replaced and locked herself in a convent where she lived for the rest of her days.
