- Blub's Italian Street Art: Discover the Underwater World | imperfecta.xyz
Discover the inspiring art of Blub, showcasing Italian street art with a unique underwater twist. Explore these captivating creations. gallery artist . blub Italian street artist Blub, based in Florence, has been gaining more and more notoriety thanks to his Paste-Up artworks from the series “L’Arte Sa Nuotare,” which represent some of the best-known works of art submerged in water. Blub started its activity in the autumn of 2013 in Cadaqués, in Catalonia, in the fishing village particularly loved by Salvador Dalì; in November of the same year, Blub paid homage to the Florentine district of San Niccolò on the occasion of the anniversary of the flood. Venice, Rome, Ravenna, Lucca, Pisa, Mantua, but also Barcelona, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Lisbon and even Rio de Janeiro were the stages of his creative journey, which had an international echo testified by the dedicated cover, from Vanity Fair in 2017, to this particular street art experience. As the artist puts it: “Although we may find ourselves in a sea of difficulties, in life we always have the resources to learn to swim. Art is one such resource. Water is my element. Life is born from water, it is the hidden side of matter. When you are immersed, the moment stops and there is no weight, while thoughts flow in a suspended dimension. For this reason, I repropose the characters who have transmitted an example of greatness capable of surviving even today, right under the water, timeless.” currently available . blub Quick View Hitchcock - Print (Blub) Out of stock Quick View David Bowie - Print (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Freddie - Print (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Rat Banksy (Blub) Price $200.00 Quick View La Creazione (Blub) Price $200.00 Quick View Putto Raffaello n. 2 (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Putto Raffaello n. 1 (Blub) Price $200.00 Quick View Amy Winehouse (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Dali (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Venus (Blub) Price $300.00 Quick View Las Menina (Blub) Out of stock Quick View David (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Mona Lisa (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Dolce Vita, Fellini (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Hitchcock (Blub) Out of stock Quick View Magritte (Blub) Out of stock
- blue russian beads | imperfecta.xyz
This page talks about Blue Russian Beads - their original and story. blue russian beads. The so-called “Russian” beads were made in Jablonec, Bohemia (now in the Czech Republic), and shipped by way of China to the Russian American Company in Alaska. From there, they made their way down the coast to the Columbia, where Chinook traders carried them upriver to Celilo Falls, the oldest continually occupied settlement in North America and a trading center that drew people from as far away as the Great Lakes. Other beads reached the Northwest in the trade goods carried overland by Hudson's Bay voyageurs. How did imperfecta find these beads? The better question would be: how did these beads find imperfecta? It all started the day when David Hedges, a local antique beads collector and dealer, came to the gallery for a visit. David noticed a necklace in the jewelry cabinet and wondered about its beads' origin - are they Antique Egyptian? he asked. From there, I learned about his decades-long beads' pursuit and incredible collection. When he mentioned the "Blue Russians", their history and their importance for local tribes I could not help but ask whether I could see them. A week later, David and his cheerful smile re-enter the gallery and... the rest is history. David's blue Russian beads are now available in our online catalog, mounted as earrings and necklaces . Note: given the antique and handmade nature of these beads, please appreciate their subtle differences and variations. [check out this video , in which David explains how these beads were made - insane story!] Oregon City poet and author David Hedges discovered beads in 1980 and has been collecting ever since, amassing thousands of glass, shell, bone, stone, and metal beads dating as far back as ancient Egypt, Rome, and pre-contact America. A special focus is the late 17th century to mid-18th century fur trade era in the Pacific Northwest, and the Russian blue faceted beads that were the favorites of Indigenous people from Alaska to the Columbia River. They come in several colors, but blues were the most highly prized. David recently sold a five-and-a-half-foot strand of half-inch cobalt blues to a leader of the Quinault Nation on the Olympic Peninsula, who wept upon receiving them.
- ancestors (may 2025) | imperfecta.xyz
Learn about 2025 solo show that features South African artist Reese Bowes. ancestors. reese bowes | may 3-31, 2025 "We are not what your eyes want to see." "We are not our ancestors, we are your ancestors." The Imperfecta Gallery presents ANCESTORS, an exhibition featuring Portland artist Reese Bowes. On view on May 3-31, the show features artworks created to draw one's attention "away from the digital edifice and interface, by subverting it and destructing it and choosing materials that mimic and mock it." Pieces in the show are the artist's 3rd iteration of a series that started in 2012, which explored "femininity and the power of magic in a society that has lost its grip on what it means to dream." As the artist explains: "To think beyond the strictures and structures erected around our physical and mental bodies is an ever present struggle. The commodification of expression in all its forms, a weight bearing down on all of us. Belief in other worlds and benign futures becoming mere figments of our collective imagination." With ANCESTORS, the artist explores how decoupled true images have become from reality yet reminds us that we have the ability of creating work that maintains humanity, employing technology in its construction. In his words: "There are only eyes and brains and hands here. It is my hope that your eyes see something different than mine have in the creation of these works. That you see a new story that is different than the hidden one not surfaced in these words before you." Each piece in the exhibition is a collection of images superimposed and overexposed, then chromatically divided equally across three plates that serve to create a static hologram. The technique originated when the artist worked on light field display technologies in 2018 and explorations continued during his residency with the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art's "Creative Exchange Lab" in 2022, where he produced multilayered, translucent digital display versions of interactive works that explored movement studies performed by professional modern and street dancers in Portland and Washington, DC. The show debuts on May 3rd, with an Opening Reception from 5 to 7pm. About Reese Bowes Reese's work – from electronic and analog music production to fine art illustration, digital interactive multimedia installations – focus on the intersections between human-human interactions as modified by technological interfaces, and the lack of representation of peoples of African ancestry, and other often marginalized groups, in technical and design fields. ancestors. explore the collection Quick View Vaughn (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Shiva (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Sara (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Monica_Janus (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Monica (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Heather (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00 Quick View Hands (Print, Reese Bowes) Price $98.00

Learn about "wonder meals", a group show that featured international artists and their cabinet of wonders. wonder meals. group show | july 6-27, 2024 In July 2024 we presented a group show that focuses on the art of wonder, with a twist. In WONDER MEALS, participating artists focused on the art of wonder – "a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable." The inspiration for the show was Wunderkammer. Cabinets of Curiosities, frequently considered the precursors of modern museums, made their debut during the Renaissance to showcase an array of rare, eclectic, and even esoteric artifacts and objects. These cabinets were all about telling wonderful stories about the world one inhabits – its history, peculiarities, and unique attributes. Artists were challenged to explore what WONDER means. While free to use any medium and style, their piece had to include a recipe, an ingredient list and had to stay within the size boundary of a 11 inch diameter plate. Artists were also asked to specify where their work would fit in relation to the 4 Wunderkammer categories: Artificialia (e.g. objects created or modified by humans, such as art); Naturalia (e.g. creatures and natural objects – with a particular interest in monsters); Exotica (e.g. exotic plants and animals); and Scientifica (e.g. scientific instruments).

- from the dark side of whimsy (may 2026) | imperfecta.xyz
From the Dark Side of Whimsy, on show May 7-25 2026, is a solo show featuring artist Kelli Cooper. from the dark side of whimsy. kelli cooper | may 7 - 30, 2026 The Imperfecta Gallery is excited to present From the Dark Side of Whimsy, a show featuring New Mexico artist Kelli Cooper. On view May 7-30 2026, the show explores the uneasy space where playfulness and discomfort intersect, using painting, sculpture, and illustrated ceramics as interconnected forms of storytelling. As the artist explains: "I'm drawn to imagery that feels familiar at first glance—varied palettes, exaggerated forms, and character-like figures—but slowly reveals something more ambiguous and unsettling." Across this body of work, Kelli Cooper is interested in how humor and darkness can coexist within a single visual language — there is an ongoing dialogue between innocence and awareness, where whimsy acts as both a disguise and a doorway into more complex emotional terrain. By shifting between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, Cooper builds a layered experience that invites viewers to move closer, look longer, and question their initial impressions. Ultimately, these pieces aim to hold space for contradiction—where the playful becomes uneasy, the familiar becomes strange, and beauty emerges through the tension between them. About Kelli Cooper Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Kelli has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Mexico and is currently residing in Albuquerque. Her mixed media artwork has always been process oriented and experimental. Kelli's work typically could be categorized as Figurative Expressionism and has been described as unselfconscious, relatable, and delightfully dark and twisted. Kelli's art has a whimsical style and poignant voice; she brings the viewer in by connecting through relatable characters and shared emotional experience. Kelli has participated in many gallery shows and is a member of the Albuquerque Art Business Association, a member of Ghostwolf Gallery in Albuquerque, and is represented exclusively in Denver by Pop Gallery. She has numerous collectors all over the United States and abroad. Read the Press Release here . from the dark side of whimsy . explore the collection
