call for installations.
This is a rolling invitation for local and international artists to submit proposals for large scale, site specific, interactive, experiential or participatory installation to be exhibited in our dedicated installation space. Proposed work must be new or it should have been created, realized or significantly updated within the last two years.
Who can participate
Participants may be individuals, groups, institutions, companies etc. Exclusively commercially oriented activities in the sense of product advertisement are excluded.
Themes
Thematically, we are open to diverse explorations and love meaningful work that makes one pause and wonder – sky is the limit yet we will not accept anything misogynistic, racist, or offensive materials.
Medium
We encourage diverse artistic explorations using diverse media, including single or multi-channel videos to multimedia installations, kinetic sculptures, interactive digital objects, sound art, VR/AR/MR experiences, robotics, multimedia performances, wearables, participatory art, multisensorial installations and experimental new media.
Logistics
The installation should be able to be set up and broken down easily – ideally by the creator without any aid yet we can accommodate a different setup for particularly meaningful work even if the artist cannot travel to our location. Art must be stable and cannot pose safety or security issues. We cannot provide equipment so the installation should be self contained. Electricity is available and we additionally have the ability to hang work from the ceiling, within reason in terms of weight.
Shipping
For particularly meaningful work we can attempt to seek funding, provided considerable time is available. This is not guaranteed and if funding is not available, shipping will be the artist’s responsibility.

Duration: unless differently agreed, accepted installations will be on show for a month, with an opening reception on the first Thursday of the chosen month and the option to give an artist talk the following Saturday. For high demand work, we have the ability to prolong shows beyond the 1 month schedule.
Marketing/Press Releases: the gallery will create, run and cover all expenses to promote the selected installations and related artists.
Space:
Imperfecta is located in the heart of downtown Portland, in the Pearl District, at 809 NW Flanders Street, Portland OR 97209.
Selected installation will have full availability of our installation area, which measures as follows:

Maximum height: 12 feet (3.6 meters)
Maximum area: 14 x 30 feet (4.3 x 9.3 meters)
