"In January 2025, our current president signed in executive order freezing all US foreign assistance programs for 90 days to review their alignment with his policy goals. In February 2025 the administration announced plans to eliminate over 90% of USAIDS foreign aid contracts, reducing overall US assistance by 60 billion. Estimates suggest that hundreds of thousands have already died due to the loss of US foreign aid and the projections indicate millions more deaths in the coming years. Early analysis counted hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths in 2025 alone with disruptions to HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, and basic health services. A Lancit study projects roughly 9.4 million additional global deaths by 2030 if the aid cuts are not reversed. As I look around at what money has been spent on - new plane, new ballrooms, a UFC fight in front of our White House, and multiple spectacles that do not represent the majority of our country desires, it is heart wrenching, and downright wrong. America has always been known for being a country that helps, a country respected by those around the world. Sadly, those days are fading fast.
