Death shapes life. But knowing that any moment might be the last can motivate rather than foster morbid fixation. Appreciating mortality means that life satisfaction is born from engaging with rather than denying something real. Dancing with death makes each day count.

“Afterlife, Online” examines a more literal question of what it means to be alive as we are the first generation to manage digital legacies, specifically how technology complicates the relationship between physically functioning forms and immaterial artifacts lingering in cyberspace. A collapsed human body is propped up by an exoskeleton with glowing, eye-shaped lenses roughly where a heart would have been. They continue to glow and emit a faint, flickering signal. Yet the signal persists. To whom is it directed, and why? Are our digital remains eternal flickers or scattered shards of cyber graves?
