The Imperfecta gallery is proud to present "Pareidolia and Anthropomorphism," an art doll exhibit featuring UK-based artist LittleSwimminMachine (Francesca Loi).
This artshow was originally inspired by the artist's fascination with the concept of Pareidolia: the human tendency to perceive faces in nature's random patterns (even when none actually exist). Such a fascination led her to an exploration of the anthropomorphic - the attribution of human form and character to non-human entities - with the ultimate goal of blurring the boundary between reality and imagination.
Loi has once again chosen to work with multiple materials, blending diverse textures, styles, and human features as a means of merging the "typical" with the strange. In doing this, she hopes to have conjured up stirrings of unease.
The show, part of Fall Of Freedom, asks viewers to consider the potentials of pareidolia and anthropomorphism in our society:
what would happen if we were to collectively find humanity in all that surrounds us?
The show debuts at the Imperfecta Gallery on November 8 with an opening reception between 5 and 7pm and runs through November 29.
